NeatKit

NeatKit is a single toolbox for the small text jobs that surround writing and editing. Instead of collecting a dozen single-purpose sites — one to count words, another to clean a paste, a third to compare two drafts — it gathers 27 focused tools behind one editor, one command palette, and one consistent way of working. You can reach any of them from the header or by pressing ⌘K from anywhere on the site.

The tools are deliberately narrow. Each does one job — count, measure, clean, convert, compare, extract, or track — and does it without configuration screens or a sign-up wall in the way. The aim is that the tool you need is a few keystrokes away and behaves the same as the last one you used.

Every tool processes text on your device. Text you type or paste is never uploaded to a server to be counted, cleaned, or compared, so the tools keep working offline once the page has loaded, and a confidential draft, an internal export, or an unpublished manuscript never leaves your machine. There is nothing to install.

The productivity tools — notes, checklists, timers, and the writing and reading trackers — keep their state in your browser’s local storage rather than in an account. That means your data stays on the device you created it on; it also means clearing your browser data clears it, so each of those tools offers an export when the work is worth keeping. Cloud sync across devices is not live yet.

The catalogue is organised into 3 categories. Writing tools count and measure prose as you draft; text tools do line-level work on lists, logs, and exports; productivity tools keep a writing session on track. A tool earns a place when it answers a real, recurring task and can do so entirely in the browser — not because it rounds out a list.

Each tool page also carries the reasoning behind the numbers: how a word or a sentence is counted, how a readability score is derived, where a heuristic can be wrong, and when a different tool is the better fit. If a tool you expect is missing, the fastest way to see it built is to ask.

Every tool is free to use without limits, funded by unobtrusive ads in the page margins. Pro removes those ads for ₹999 a year; the tools themselves are identical either way. There is no metered usage and no feature held back behind the paywall.
